I’ve been thinking more about the spiritual realm lately and how I can often be a bit complacent that there’s a battle going on around us. I happened upon a talk on spiritual warfare by John Paul Jackson, who had, when he was alive, an incredible gift of interpreting dreams. He spoke about there being more than one heaven (God created the heavens…). The third heaven, which is mentioned in the bible, is the place where God and His angels reside. The 1st heaven which runs in a dual reality with the earth, is where demonic powers have influence, and John argues a 2nd heaven (not mentioned in the bible but implied) where higher principalities inhabit (Daniel 10:13), this being God’s battlefield.

He was saying that sometimes we can encroach on territory that isn’t ours, thus opening ourselves up to spiritual attack by how we pray. We were made by God to subdue the earth and he wants us to ask for His help. We were made a little lower than the angels and need to be mindful of the extent of our authority in the first heaven, which is the territory around us, and any further than that we need to ask God to intervene because otherwise we violate God’s order and authority structure.

We also need to make sure we “put on” the armour of God (Ephesians 6:10-17) as these things are our spiritual tools for the battle and with these on and being filled continually with the Holy Spirit the Devil has to rethink his battle plan. I encourage you to read that passage again. The passion version is good.

Lord we come to you with repentant hearts for the times when we have made ourselves greater than the order that you have ordained. We ask for you to move in power in our church to bring about healing, reconciliation & your miracles in our finances. We ask that you would bring revival in our hearts and in this town. Thankyou that we can make a difference to the people around us by being continually filled with the Holy Spirit and that when we walk into a room like this, the enemy has to rethink his battle plan. Thank you that you allow us to join in with the Angels in worship.

1 Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light
