‘So take me as you find me, all my fears and failures, fill my life again. I give my life to follow, everything I believe in, now I surrender.’
On Sunday morning during the song ‘Everyone needs compassion’ I was given a picture of Jesus drawing a line in the sand and a sense of Him saying, “This is a new beginning.” As I’ve been pondering this, these thoughts came to mind; sometimes we can hold on to past hurts & regrets. We can be so filled with worrying about things that we forget to live in the now. Isaiah 43 v 18 says, “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.” And Amos 5 in the message version of the bible, (which happened to be part of the verse for today as I write this) encourages us to “Seek good and not evil — and live!”
On Sunday evening we heard from John 10, ‘The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.’ So at the beginning of this New Year let’s pull together, draw strength from one another as we encourage each other. Let’s dwell on the good things, remembering Yahweh’s redeeming love, forgiving each other as we have been forgiven, so that we can heal and be a people of purpose and love and live in the ‘joy of our salvation’.
Philippians 3 “ I admit that I haven’t yet acquired the absolute fullness that I’m pursuing, but I run with passion into his abundance so that I may reach the purpose that Jesus Christ has called me to fulfill and wants me to discover.
I don’t depend on my own strength to accomplish this; [f] however I do have one compelling focus: I forget all of the past as I fasten my heart to the future instead. I run straight for the divine invitation of reaching the heavenly goal and gaining the victory-prize through the anointing of Jesus.
So let all who are fully mature have this same passion, and if anyone is not yet gripped by these desires, God will reveal it to them. And let us all advance together to reach this victory-prize, following one path with one passion.
‘So shine your light and let the whole world see’
Have a blessed new year
