What atmosphere do you bring?

Philip Trout writes

I’ve been thinking recently about what we add to the atmosphere in a room; our homes, our workplaces, church even.

There are some people I know who it just feels like they bring a dark cloud everywhere with them, some completely the opposite, bringing joy, peace and happiness.

We as the people of the kingdom of Heaven need to be bringing exactly that - The kingdom of Heaven here on earth.

That really isn’t as mad as it sounds!

In fact, it starts with practising His presence in peace, then happiness, then joy, then all of the fruits of the spirit. The way to attain these is to take captive every thought that comes against the knowledge of God. (2 Cor 10.5)

The knowledge of God is that of His character and fruits of His Spirit; Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness and Faithfulness. (Gal 5.22)

The trick is to catch any negative thoughts as quickly as you are aware anything that stands against any of these fruits and pray exactly the opposite of the negative thoughts you’ve entertained for yourself or the circumstances or the people you’ve been thinking of. Pray for the people in your negative thoughts in exactly the opposite spirit of anything negative you’ve held against them. It’s amazing and amusing to watch the results from this…..

They would never know you entertained a negative thought about them, but more importantly you will see positive fruit from your prayers of blessing on their lives. This really is great fun! This really is a fun game, that the Holy Spirit enjoys with you. But more importantly, one of the fruits of practising this, is that you then bring a lightness of Spirit into every environment you walk into. You will have the Joy of the Lord and will be working towards attaining the mind of Christ. A mind free of clutter, full of positive and creative thoughts, flashes of inspired brilliance that can only be from Him.

I encourage you to give it a go. Even if you only bless a few people - that would be worth it wouldn’t it? There’s nothing to lose and everything to gain!
