While at university (a little while ago now!) my husband shared a house with some other Christian guys. Perhaps unusually – but encouragingly - they are all still following God. One of them (Rich) leads a church which aims, like ECB, to have a positive impact on the community around it. His church runs a number of initiatives including a community centre.

Of late I have found myself considering the contrast that exists in life, of struggle and suffering leading to growth within ourselves and a richer experience of life.
‘So take me as you find me, all my fears and failures, fill my life again. I give my life to follow, everything I believe in, now I surrender.’
As the first newsletter writer of 2019, I wish you all a very happy and blessed New Year hoping that, at the end of it, we can all look back and thank God for the ways He has blessed and guided us.
As I reflect and look back on 2018 in many ways it has been a difficult and challenging year, personally, for my family but for the nation as a whole.
I imagine most of us will be familiar with the old question "Is this glass half full or half empty?"
Advent means HE COMES or just COMING.
When we celebrate advent as part of Christmas we are putting Christmas in context - We celebrate the coming of Jesus, as Saviour - and as we look to his coming at the end of time.
